HAWKSMOOR REDUX REDUX - THIS TIME IT'S ABOUT THE STEAKS
This is the third time DH have blogged about HAWKSMOOR but there is a good excuse. This place is absolutely the business.

Whilst, on previous visits, we have stuck to cocktails, last night, after the rigours of The Great British Beer Festival, we needed some real sustenance. Oh, and some cocktails too.

The drinks making at this place is a very serious affair. To the skills of Lukas, they have now added Milo a stalwart of the Match Bar Group where he worked at The Player and Milk & Honey. Hawksmoor is now offering the best cocktails in London at the moment by some margin.

After a couple of exceptional martini's we sat down to order food and began with a plate of popcorn shrimp and some ribs. Both excellent but merely a pre cursor to the main event. A 600gm rib eye and a 600gm veal chop. What can I tell you? Probably the best steak I have had in London. Thick and juicy, fantastic flavour ( which should come as no surprise as the meat is sourced from The Ginger Pig ) and perfectly cooked to order with a nice char. The veal chop was just as impressive

Less impressive is the wine list which needs work and our bottle of carmanere was over priced. A small quibble for a meal where even the sides of chips and slaw displayed a very able hand in the kitchen

They are offering a 50% discount on food right now, so our total bill came to £60 which is a bit of a steal.

This is already becoming a regular haunt for us and it looks like Metro's review helped too as it was packed last night. it deserves to be for a long time to come

The Rioja is actually the best I've ever had. Ask them next time :)
